History of AbhayapuriEstablished in the year 1671 by King Chandra Narayan also known as Raja Bijit Narayan, Abhayapuri was the capital city of the ancient Bijni kingdom. Initially the capital was at the modern Bijni town, then it got shifted to Dumuria, which is now known as Dalan Bhanga and then finally to Abhayapuri. The name Abhayapuri is derived from the Devi Abhoyamata which was the family deity of the ruling dynasty in that period.
